Coriander is usually used in soups and sauces, as well as in Indian dishes such as curries and masalas. The plant rarely grows taller than 60 centimetres and gives off a strong aroma. It is an annual herb with edible stems and flowers that thrives in light, compact soils with plenty of light. It is usually sown directly in the garden or in pots/beds. This plant has become popular thanks to its high content of nutrients, minerals and oils, making it a good source of calcium, potassium, magnesium and phosphorus. Would you like to know all the benefits and properties of coriander? Read on! We'll tell you everything.

What are the benefits?

How much should you eat?

Coriander (Coriandrum sativum) is a versatile aromatic herb, widely appreciated in cooking and in traditional medicine for its health-giving properties. Native to the Mediterranean and the Middle East, coriander is rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that promote well-being.

Coriander can be eaten in many ways, to suit different uses and preferences:

Coriander leaf paste: Blend fresh coriander leaves into a smooth paste. Add lemon and salt to make a tangy, aromatic sauce, ideal with sandwiches or other dishes;
Coriander seed oil: Mix coriander essential oil with coconut oil or olive oil to make a massage oil. This blend is great for the scalp, and may stimulate circulation and promote healthy hair;
Coriander tea: Boil 3 sprigs of coriander in 1 cup of water and drink a cup after a meal. This tea may aid digestion and has a calming effect.

Precautions and contraindications

Although it is safe for most people, eating too much coriander should be avoided.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before consuming the herb, as there have been reports of intestinal irritation or allergic reactions in some cases.
