Worm humus (vermicompost)
Living organic matter that restores structure and microbial life to the soil.
What it's for: Humified organic matter produced by Eisenia foetida and enriched with seaweed. Around 2 billion microorganisms per gram. Improves structure, aeration and moisture retention, and suppresses nematodes and soil pathogens.
Best for: Any soil type (neutral pH). Garden, vegetables, fruit, lawn, pots.
When to apply: During soil preparation, at transplanting and as an annual top dressing.
How often: Annual (the sheet indicates 4-5 kg/year for mature fruit trees).
Dose: Garden and lawn 0.5-1 kg/m². Vegetables 1-2 kg/m². Fruit trees 2 kg/m² at planting, mature 4-5 kg/year. Conifers and hedges 1 kg per 10 plants. Pots 10% at potting on.
How to apply: Spread and work in.
Worth knowing: Low C/N ratio — it mineralises fast, so nutrients become available quickly. The starting point for any tired soil.
