Chitosan
Switches on the plant's own defences against fungi and bacteria, and keeps fruit firm after harvest.
What it's for: Biostimulant extracted from the chitin of marine crustaceans. It triggers a false alarm: the plant reacts as if a pathogen were attacking and switches on its own defences — closing stomata, building physical barriers and producing more secondary roots.
Best for: Fruit, vegetables, lawns and seed treatment. Also for post-harvest keeping quality.
When to apply: From the development of the 1st leaf to fruit development. Seeds: before sowing.
How often: Repeated throughout the cycle, as a preventive.
Dose: Watering 5 ml/l. Foliar spray 5 ml/l. Seed: soak or spray.
How to apply: Dilute in water, water in or spray. Soak seed before sowing.
Worth knowing: It does not kill the fungus — it trains the plant to defend itself. Which is why it works far better applied BEFORE the problem shows up.
